About Spiral Systems:
For my capstone I decided to focus on four main goals. 1) I wanted to created a connection between Emergent Digital Practices (EDP) and nature. 2) I wanted to help foster an appreciation for nature. 3) I wanted to create art at the University of Denver for the DU community and by the DU community. 4) I also wanted all the art I created to by environmentally friendly.
I wanted to host community events throughout the quarter where volunteers would create art using only natural materials like sticks and stones. I knew that I wanted one of the designs to be created by snow. I would use volunteers to create large designs in the snow using only their footprints. I ended up creating the snow pattern on my own. I became especially fascinated by the beauty and symbolism of spirals. Spirals can be found naturally in nature and represent journeys in life, creation and growth, evolution, and constant change.
